I Love Books

Bookcase

Build me a book case
Stock it with tomes
Big ones and small ones
Don't forget Sherlock Holmes

I like fantasy and fiction
I love books that are old
Especially those books
Where the truth slowly unfolds

I enjoy a nice poem
And I adore obscure prose
I love word play and mysteries
And the challenges posed

Historically factual ones
Perhaps about war
Maybe a leader's biography
That contains actual lore

But most importantly now
Is how they'll be kept
I need shelves and some book ends
In a room dusted and swept

A lamp on a stand
A small table nearby
A bar in the corner
For when I'm feeling dry

A large case on the wall
To hold all of the books
Organized by their genre
Not by their looks

And just like my books
The shelves will be different sizes
Don't judge them by covers
Covers are simply disguises

My mind's like a garden
That I'm constantly feeding
In a comfortable chair
That I use for my reading

I'll sit there all day
Simply reading away
If you could just build me
A bookcase today.
