I Love Books

I have been reading for many years now, but I don't really read anything "classic" or intellectual... for me, it's an escape into another world. I like fantasy, sci-fi... another words... brain candy ;)

Robin Hobb is one of my favorites. She really knows how to tell a story. Here is a poem/quote from one of her books... brilliant and quite sad, when you know the characters it relates to...
Anyways. I think a few of you may enjoy it :)

Fool's Fate by Robin Hobb

“In that last dance of chances

I shall partner you no more.

I shall watch another turn you

As you move across the floor.

In that last dance of chances

When I bid your life goodbye

I will hope she treats you kindly.

I will hope you learn to fly.

In that last dance of chances

When I know you'll not be mine

I will let you go with longing

And the hope that you'll be fine.

In that last dance of chances

We shall know each other's minds.

We shall part with our regrets

When the tie no longer binds.”
Exactly, books are a way to escape the mundane life. I love books and poetry plus it's even better when I can write those books and poetry.

They say a reader lives a 1000 lives where others only live one. That's so true. Reading only makes a person more intelligent as long as its not Playboy-no matter how good those articles are😊

Before I started kindergarten, I was able to read the simple grade one books. My mom read to me every day and before bed. And she took me to the library and taught me to use the card catalogue to find the authors I liked by the titles of the books I'd read, and to find more books written by those authors. By the time I finished grade one, she didn't need to read to me anymore. I could silent read faster than she could read out loud. When I started wanting to know the meanings and how to pronounce words I'd never seen before, she taught me to use the family dictionary. It was her mother's that she brought with her from England in 1899. Reading is in our blood.

Oh, and just another mention. If you've never read Philip Jose Farmer, you might want to check into it. And Peirs Anthony's Apprentice Adept series.

So many great stories. Too many authors to list. But, here's one more. Robert Lynn Asprin was an American science fiction and fantasy author and active fan, best known for his humorous MythAdventures and Phule's Company series. Wikipedia

Thank you... your comments are so interesting! I appreciate the recommendations... I have read most of Piers Anthony’s books, years ago... I’ll have to check out the others. @Serenitree

Reading is definitely in your blood... amazing smarts!

Thanks.

That's beautiful. You know I like to think of people as great novels. We turn the pages at our own pace and discover the story within. Along the way we make part of the story our own and add part of ourselves to the experience.

You have an inquisitive and clever mind... the story of YOU is a thrill to read 😉 @Fungirlmmm

@Serenitree You are quite welcome :)
Liked this too. I have never heard of her. I will look her up. Thanks.

@CCMorgan I'll try. I have to read ebooks now, because even large print is too small for me to read. I'll see if the library has them or amazon or kindle readers.

I have mine on kindle :)
I use my iPad most of the time now, to read.
