What are weddings like in UK? [I Remember My Wedding]

Basically, in UK for Indian weddings, it is normal for friends of friends to attend. It's even ok for mutual cousins to also attend (AND THEIR FRIENDS ON TOP)!!!

But is it normal for UK Non Indians? Weddings in Churches then reception?? Or is it strictly family and close friends only?
