I Can't Stand It When People Fight Over Religion

For myself, I don't have an affirmation with any particular belief system. I simply don't find meaning in believing something many others can also claim and have a sense of personal inherency. That being said, I think that whatever somebody wants to believe in is absolutely none of my business. Don't care really. That is their decision to practice what they have faith in and their responsibility to develop security in that aspect for how it brings positivity in their life.

Religion is fine. Most contention is created by the select group of people in them who try to invalidate the beliefs of others who don't believe in what they do. They don't seem to be satisfied in having an established inherent faith and have to undermine the faith of others. This isn't something that comes from any particular faith (Christianity may come to a mind or two), but from anyone who has this particular mindset. They are the type of people who would only learn the basics of other beliefs not to build awareness, but to solely look for differences to legitimize their own practice. Shit, some Christians go to great lengths in history study only to undermine all other beliefs that aren't their own.

I'll give an example. I've got two friends brought up in Baptism. Known them for years, since we were kids. My folks practice Buddhism. Culture shock for them. They would always give me shit for not being Christian. Never really got to me, though. It only sucked because they got the narrow-mindedness from their family. They never really took the time to look to sources outside their family for facts instead of assumptions of what a given religion was and how it's flawed. Ironically, in contrast to the many so-called Christians they associate with, we've had made true friendship when those same people were just fairweather friends. Still, I can respect Christianity, regardless of their intolerant mentality.

Religion is only as meaningful as a person makes it. What I don't find faith in may provide you with the perspective you need to live a better life. I like to keep what I believe in to myself because it matters only to myself, for my own existence. That's on me. Anyone can believe in anything. I feel it would be better if people accepted that there are people who don't believe in that they do and that they should focus more on transforming their own lives for themselves. In a universe without inherency or meaning, I think it's important for people to have faith in something. That's how hope is born.

Agreed. Many people are religious just because of their families and place they were born in.They don't wonder about other beliefs ..they don't even learn about their own religion! And sometimes those people are just too afraid to question it.
Then they go hate people who have different opinions, while knowing nothing about things they try to defend

I'm more interested in what brings us closer to knowing the absolute truth. Turning to faith or away from it is never an improvement.

@Peekaboo: Just don't be disappointed if what you start to notice everyday is all that existence is.

@Kurainia: Oh, it's solved already- so there's no need to be concerned for me.
