[youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGnELCC8fcI]

Have you found a website claiming it's possible for a narcissist to change with the right approach?

Do you feel you can believe the author because perhaps they have a PhD and years of psychology practice under their belt?

Here's the truth. It’s a nice kumbaya theory.

In this video, you will learn the truth about whether it's possible for a narcissist to change so you can stop the confusion and get on with your life.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
As my therapist told me concerning a narcissist, "Tigers don't change stripes, leopards don't change spots. Narcissists don't change behavior".
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@berangere A lot of that was ban the other cheek. ed on the "Christian" thought of forgive and turn the other cheek. i don't really know how he picked up I was in such a situation, more over was able to point out the damage our son was suffering from it. Once my eyes were opened I got out quickly, despite the pleas of her wanting to change.
berangere · 80-89, F
@SageWanderer You did the right thing,they always say they will change to keep you bound to them.Narcissists will do just what suits them.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@berangere LOL! You just triggered the black negligee memory that she tried after we were divorced. Still get a chuckle out of her desperation.
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
For 16 years. I thought love could change him.
I finally lost hope, and left.

My ex never changed, and he was loved unconditionally.
berangere · 80-89, F
@dubkebab He does indeed!
rottenrobi · 56-60, F
@berangere I know this song very well. Lol.
And yes, it is perfect.
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@rottenrobi I feel like Henry is my cool uncle or older brother.
I have spent so much time in his head.
Too timid to write him,mainly as his work ethic puts me to shame.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
I don't think they can. I've watched my daughter thinking her ex could change, he got worse!
berangere · 80-89, F
@samueltyler2 Yes, the more they can get away with their shenanigans the worse they get
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@berangere my daughter's ex was a real pro!
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@berangere That was my ex-fiance.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
No amount of love can change them. They have a twisted view of love.
berangere · 80-89, F
@cherokeepatti @cherokeepatti Exactly!Love is what is due to THEM and not what they can give to others.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@berangere they tend to distrust anyone who is kind to them for any length of time. Their way of thinking is “What does this person want?” When you do something nice for them. Because they won’t do for others without an ulterior motive
berangere · 80-89, F
@cherokeepatti Exactly, they would not or could not understand some good done to them without an ulterior motive.And they take all the good done to them for granted anyway.

You can't change anyone they have to want to change themselves.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@SW-User This.
Angelwings89 · 41-45, F
Well mine is trying extremely hard to convince me that he's changed. Sigh.
@berangere oh agreed!!!

Definitely!!!

What ever inner strength and self love one regains while within a relationship with a narc, will be systematically destroyed by them by whatever means possible.

Self healing can really only ever be achieved by leaving....... Or by an incredibly strong and financially independent partner.
berangere · 80-89, F
@OogieBoogie And if you stay with a narc you will not stay strong and financially independent for long,they will see to that.
@berangere amen!
A narcissist is a narcissist, there is no changing them, sadly. They are like a leopard who doesn't change its spots! Proverbial speaking.
Don't let them fool you into thinking that they can change because that's exactly what the narcissist would make you think.
Wiseacre · F
No, they are incorrigible!
berangere · 80-89, F
@Wiseacre Their brains are not wired like a normal person's brain and also malignant narcissism can be genetic.I say malignant because a little bit of narcissism in a person is normal providing it does no harm to others.
Yes..... Given heaps of love - it makes them worse!!! 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
berangere · 80-89, F
@OogieBoogie They don't appreciate love,they take it for granted and are never satisfied.
@berangere I truly don't think they see love as many do.
From what I've seen, their Actions of 'love' are used more than felt.... There is a goal involved. It's used as a commodity to achieve other emotional needs like a sense of control, or leverage.
And actions of love towards them are momentary satisfactions and acknowledgement of their value.... But becuase they constantly need value gratification - they can suck a person dry emotionally.🤷‍♀️
berangere · 80-89, F
@OogieBoogie Yes you could call them emotional vampires,they indeed constantly need value gratification,but can never give it to others.
Tickle12100 · 41-45, F
A narcissique stay a narcissique all the life
@berangere I am sure there is narcissistic behavior. Does labeling a partner as a "narcissist" preclude any hope of repairing a bad relationship? Sounds like it.
@BiasForAction getting to the point of labeling someone a narcissist is the beginning of freedom by seeing there is no chance of repair.
berangere · 80-89, F
@OogieBoogie Yes you could put it that way,sadly narcs cannot be repaired,it is extremely rare if they do and then maybe they were not narcs in the first place.
@berangere guess I was right
seems to be popular these days to label someone or some people a narcissists and then opine as to why they won't change. I am not sure that it is very helpful to label someone a narcissist to begin with.
berangere · 80-89, F
@BiasForAction It is not a question of what is popular these days,it is that people are now waking up to narcissists and the damage they cause to other people's lives,narcissists destroy lives and they are devilishly clever in passing themselves off as victims and making their own victims appear crazy,there are a litany of things they do,if they do those things then they can be called narcissists,the malignant type.
