I Struggle With My Body Image

I have a friend who has decided to go on the Keto diet because she hates her body. While I know this can be an effective way to lose weight, I also have heard that it can quickly become malnourishment and unhealthy so how do I go about talking to her about these things? I have also struggled with body image, but I never know what to say to others who struggle with it as well because let's be honest, 100 people can tell us we're "beautiful" and "fine just the way we are" but that doesn't really do anything, even if they mean it...

I don't know much about the keto diet. Just that like all the other past fad diets there is probably a reason why it's a fad diet. The most reliable non fad diet I know of is to eat fewer calories and get more exercise. The problem with that one is doesn't have a fancy fad name. It does work though! Body image is a tough one. I sometimes wonder if sometimes people don't look for reasons to not like themselves and this is just an easy one. Sensible diets are hard, developing into a fully operational human can be hard. Watching tv, eating snacks, and feeling miserable about it are easy.
