I Remember Life Before the Internet

I remember, many things. But maybe I wouldn't write about them tonight. I do remember treasure hunts. And playing cricket at nana's place.

My mom's sister just whatsapped me some old pictures of their family. Beautiful ladies. Confident, flashy, fitting the pop culture stereotype of the 90's. And her wedding picture in her pink dress. Necklace, nose-ring...her wrists weighing down in gold...tragically ironic. My other aunt, with her chubby children at some prominent landmark of some place on earth. Dressed in a loose flannel shirt, stonewashed jeans, stretching a fake smile. It is painful to see these.

Bitter-sweet.

Tonight is not a good night.

We had more fun before the internet. We didn't set all day and stare at a screen, we got out and did things. Simple things like swinging from a tree, riding or bikes all over the town, swimming at the ole swimming hole or during the winter building snow forts and having snowball battles, sleigh rides behind a horse listening to the bells jingle as we went across the countryside. We had fun and knew how to entertain ourselves. I would not trade my youth for anything today. I almost forgot about raking leaves up into a pile then we would all jump in them scattering them so we had to rake them again.
@Shannon27 🤗 such warm memories. thank you for sharing!!💛
