I Want To Help And Heal Female Survivors Of Abuse
Bicycles for Schoolgirls
A Swedish company in partnership with UNICEF in a three year project is arranging that for every one of their Vélosophy bikes sold then one is donated to a schoolgirl in Ghana.
The majority of schoolgirls in Ghana have a 5-10 km walk to school risking violence and abuse on journeys.
Schoolgirls who have access to a bike increase school attendance by 30% and academic performance 60%.
The company plans to connect bikes to a digital interface so they are GPS traceable and improve navigation as well as letting riders communicate with friends and keep tabs on bikes when locked up in public places.
