I Am a Mother

I remember going along to our 12 week scan whilst pregnant.
I was worried that there wasn't a little baby inside me after all and that my husband would be so disappointed.
It felt weird for him to be coming to a hospital appointment with me.

When we went in, I sat on the bed and was surprised how warm the gel was that they put on your stomach.

I am not sure what I was thinking but I just remember feeling complete awe when I saw the little shadow of our baby show on the screen.

I burst into tears because there was such an overwhelming sense of relief.

This was the first of many subtle changes to the dynamics of our relationship.

It was absolutely the best thing ever telling our parents that I was pregnant. The hardest, was keeping it a secret till we went public. I craved speaking to another woman to ask whether what I was experiencing and feeling was normal. I don't think my husband really understood that.
