In 1976-ish, while I co-owned a car with my husband, I had never had one of my own (I was 26). I worked a second job and bought a 1959 VW Beetle.

@HunterDude Oh, yes. But most have crumbled to dust and the ones surviving are way out of my price range.
It had great character and zero frills. Not even a gas [i]pedal[/i], just a little metal wheel on an arm. No gas gauge - dual tanks with a lever to change from one to the other. No interior lights.
