I Don't Live Up to My Own Expectations

Expect Me; Not
You never even knew me. Yet you claimed to see right through me.
But I'm more complex than that

You can love me, or you can hate me. You can easily berate me.
Though that effort will fall flat

I never promised nothing. Yet you're waiting on a something
That I can't ever give

A love that I can't find. The love within your mind.
All I can do is live

So as you leave I say farewell. As you condemn me straight to hell
You never really understood.

That my love isn't worth mourning. You ignored all of my warnings
And now you claim that I'm no good

I am just what I am. And you may be right, I might be damned
I guess that's the way it goes.

But if you make me stand on trail. Then it's you that's in denial.
