I Hate War
Disgust... I hate war, it revolts me. It disgusts me. Why do countless people have to suffer and die because of some political squabble? Its not just the act of genocide - because war essentially is genocide - that gets to me. It is the cruel wartime tactics that people employ. No wonder those soldiers who do return are scarred for life. It changes a person, or so I have heard.
Then there is the wartime propaganda. They lure the young and the foolhardy with promises of honor and glory. Where is the glory in fighting for another man's cause? Where is the honor in dying over another man's pride? Patriotism is not enough when you can't even be sure that you are fighting and dying for a worthy cause.
I believe that when two countries are at odds with one another, there is a more simple, less destructive way to deal with it. Lock the leader of both countries together in a room, alone. If they can negotiate peace - great. If only one survives - so be it. Regardless the outcome, there will be much less bloodshed and grief. Wars woulds also be significantly less expensive if matters could be resolved this way.
If the people in charge want to eliminate one another, let them. But there is no point in shedding the blood of the innocent to protect the aggressors. Let them have at it.
