When my twin sis & I were 5 yrs old & living in North Carolina, mom told us about honeysuckle flowers in the woods by our house. She said as a kid she’d suck the nectar out of them. Saying how sweet like candy they were. But told us not to go into the woods. My sis & I looked at each other’s and knew what we were gonna do. So over the ditch we went & across to the woods lol. The honeysuckles were right there. The perfume drifted in the warm summer breeze, begging to be picked. We picked a few and sucked them up. It had a nice light honeyish taste. We pretended to be bees that afternoon 🐝🐝

I used to do that as a child, haha. They were purple and grew in our garden. When I wasn't allowed food, I'd go outside and pick the flower to suck out the nectar inside. Of course, it wasn't very filling. It's just tiny drop. So I started eating the flowers and leaves instead.

That is so cute. I love the way you wrote it - it sounds like such an adventure!

Funny how once we get older, the mysticism seems to be taken out of these "simple" things.

Sorry I got wordy, but this post is so uplifting for me. Thank you. 💙

@caccoon awww thank you.
Yes the simple things are such treasures that we come to appreciate even more as we look back on them. 🙂
No such thing as too wordy. Your words are lovely and very welcome 😃💙
