I Have An Alcoholic Mother

That’s how she calls herself. Even though she’s, like, 7 or 8 years into her recovery she says that she still thinks about drink and still sometimes gets frightened by it all.

But she’s had no slip-ups, no binges and her health is much better.

One of my most vivid memories is of around this time of year, new year, and mum went partying with her friends and nobody knew where she was for 2 days afterwards. It turns out she was getting loaded and screwing a number of men. Me? I thought she was dead! Horrible memories.

Naturally, dad was upset and a big fight ensured.

Luckily that s all now in the past.

She’s doing amazingly well. I’m proud of her and she is my mum, after all.

Give her recognition and praise for what she has accomplished in recovering it is important to her continued success.
