I Grew Up On a Farm

It is so busy right now. Three or four lambs each day. And the sheds are full of ewes and lambs who aren’t ready to go out yet. My job is cooking for the others who are out lambing. And I have to be up in time for college. Which means leaving here at 7.30. But I love to see the lambs. They grow so quickly and in a few weeks they will be playing. I suppose animals have to grow up quickly.

:) I always get a kick out of your farm updates. Not much for sheep around here.

You weren’t a bother but we are taught in school to be very careful online. If I had known your age I would have been more welcoming! @hlpflwthat

Good on you to heed your teaching. Don't change a thing! Been a pleasure.

Thank you, @hlpflwthat

I admire the lives of farmers and ranchers. Such dedication! The area I grew up in was largely agricultural (sadly now it is mostly houses). The areas surrounding my current home are also farms.

Gosh, you start lambing early, I thought it was in March in the Northern hemisphere

No. It depends on the farm. If you start early you get better prices on your lambs but it costs more because the ewes need more feed. If you wait til the ewes got grass it’s cheaper but lamb prices are lower. @firefall
