I Would Rather Be Alone Than Be With the Wrong Person

It took me 8 years to figure that out. Well let's say 6 to be fair (there were a couple of good years in there)....but I'd rather be single than with him again any day. Sure it's hard not having a companion, sure I get lonely sometimes, but forcing something that isn't meant to be is just as hard. And when it becomes toxic it's like drinking poison and hoping for a remedy while you continue drinking. Now I just tell people I'm happily divorced. It's sort of true I guess. I now have expectations for the next person, know what I won't tolerate and what I'm looking for, so I guess you can say it was a learning lesson.

Its good to have learned something from the whole deal. It seems like so many people make the same mistake again & again.

You might consider him your trial run and a good example of everything you do not want :)

So very true! I think that's a good way to put it!

How long were you married to him? 8?
RedHotCrazyPerson · 31-35, F
We were married 2 years, together 8 years total. We were high school sweethearts, that was my first mistake. Not that it isn't possible, but not always realistic.
