It's just better to go at your own pace :)

@goagainsttheflow I know, but sites are so "in your face" about it. Bad enough I already have images of what I want locked in my mind.

@SW-User I understand. You just have to ignore the pictures and follow the advice health websites have to give. It took me a while to ignore them, myself.

@goagainsttheflow It's the mental part of it that's the worst. The nasty, self-defeating voices. How to deal with those?

@SW-User I just don't pay attention to them. If I eat well, do my cardio, and lift heavy, I know I will get there. It may not be instant, but it's not supposed to be anyway. We have to remember that everyone, even fitness models, needed time and patience to get the body they want. A lot of them spent years of work and dedication to get where they are now. We are currently in the same situation. It may take months, some years even and that's okay. So long as we treat our bodies right, everything will fall into place :)

@SW-User Also, it's okay if we fail every now and then. That's normal. Everyone who exercises, including people with perfect bodies , fall off their diet and workout routines from time to time. Don't get upset or beat yourself up over it. Just take a short break and start over. You might start over the next day or maybe in the next week, and that too is okay.

@goagainsttheflow How do you manage to not pay attention to the negative thoughts?
goagainsttheflow · 26-30, F
@SW-User It just took time. I used to feel bad when I didn't get quick results or if I didn't have the "perfect butt" and the "perfect abs". I had to constantly remind myself that results aren't instant and that I must be patient. If I messed up on my diet, I just started over with my next meal. Everyone goes through this. You have to keep reminding yourself this in order to ignore the voices in your head that say you're not working hard enough or that you'll never have the perfect body. Be healthy for yourself, not to compare yourself to others.
