I Am Sometimes Immature
I remember being 14 and my younger brothers getting ready to go to the school disco. They were gelling their hair and spraying Lynx everywhere. They were interested in chasing girls and I wasn't bothered yet. Looking back I know it was because they had the hormones of puberty coursing through them, whereas I hadn't started yet, and was still short and weedy. I was behind.
I was in my bedroom with my friend Tomasz who was 9 at the time. We were on my floor playing with Lego. Some of their friends came round our house and a couple were girls. They said we (Tomasz and I) were cute and sat on my bed while waiting on my brothers. One said I should watch what my "big brothers" were doing so I could grow up like them. I didn't correct her, I just said "I'm not grown up yet". I was just my brothers' 'little' brother. I didn't mind, I was enjoying playing with Tomasz and the Lego.
