I seriously hate when jackets have a purposefully off-center zipper.

Not only does it look absolutely retarded, but now you can't even zip the jacket up all the way. You can only zip it up about 2/3 of the way before it hits your collar. See this jacket? This would be a dope looking leather coat if it didn't have that godawful zipper.

Asymmetrical zippers are infuriating

@Snickerdo0dle: Countless motorcycle jackets have been ruined by this trend.

@Snickerdo0dle: I have a really skilled tailor who does work for discounted prices for me, so sometimes I'll buy a jacket with a fucked up zipper and have him either alter it to make it normal again, or make me a new leather jacket modeled after the one I gave him.

It is ridiculous how you're either cold because the zipper only goes so high, or you're suffocated by the collar. Interesting look, but unusable. I also hate how it looks when its left unzipped, completely out of balance.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@rottenrobi: That too! Wearing it open without the zipper looks like one half of your body is way larger than the other.

@BlueMetalChick: I had one, and i was constantly adjusting. Gave it to my daughter who was stoked, until she wore it once. Came home with the same complaints!

@rottenrobi: I had a winter coat with that kind of collar. I didn't buy it, it was given to me by my grandma. She often gets boxes full of various fashion items from her mysterious friend "Debbie" for ridiculously cheap prices, and then gives them away to family members or sells them for ten times what she got them for. It was a warm coat but the collar was so low that it left about 50% of my breasts exposed, which sucks for a winter coat. I've just been wearing the same fur-lined leather coat I've had for years. It's one that looks like this.

It's functional in a motorcycle jacket, not trendy. With a real motorcycle jacket, you can fold in the snapped down collar and zip all the way up to protect you against the weather. However, many such jackets created for fashion are not functional in the same sense.

@Anonsmiles: It's a headache.

Young one, there is purpose to the zipper. I love semitry and agree with you but weather and warmth are the reason for zipper on the motorcycle jacket.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mastersays: But it doesn't keep you warm! You can't zip the jacket up all the way and so the collar leaves the entire upper portion of your chest exposed. And rain can get in there too.
Mastermadman · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick: the collar laps over giving you a single collar. Covering much more than when stopping there. And leather under zipper stops air/water from coming in as much too.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mastersays: The jacket I own like this leaves most of my upper torso totally uncovered. Although I think it may be a man's jacket so the cut could be wrong.

It doesn't bunch at the waist when sitting and push up to your neck.
I think it was a military jacket originally for pilots.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@Mastersays: My jackets have never bunched up at the waist either.
