When make up is so expensive, how did you find a brand that works for you or how did you choose where to start?

This is a great question. Let me pass down some info passed down to me by family members who spent a good deal of research on cosmetic products.

1. Use the search engines to locate companies that make "natural or organic" products. The products will be free of substances that allegedly are not good for a person such as sulfates, parabens, and mineral oil.

2. Cosmetics are expensive. Best way to buy them is through a collective. You know, get your family and friends together and buy products in bulk and swing a discount.

3. Get educated on nutrition that supports healthy skin and overall body health. Many women forego the fats for instance that are essential to healthy skin tone, i.e., Omega-6 fatty acids.

4. Get a few sessions with a make-up consultant and find out what products have the best compliment to your skin tone and hair color. If you use the right products you won't have to use much to get a good effect.

5. There are no simple solutions. As you age so do your needs change. So put on your study cap and do research, talk to people in the know, etc.

Hope that helps!

I started by never even wearing makeup in the first place.
Find a store with a good return policy

Samples from Sephora. Swatching and researching undertones and color theory to find something that complements you. Then you can go to the drugstore, find something that will work and start practicing. Makeup is more about technique than it is about how much you spend most of the time.
By seldom wearing makeup. It is a waste of money to buy that stuff just to look good for superficial people that I could care less about anyway.

Most brands dont sell makeup white enough for my skin. I started with "white, not orange". Only just found one that works.
Samples. That is how I chose where to start.
Swatching works too, for color testing with your skin.
