Can I dye metallic fiber cloth?

I'm trying to make a Halloween costume, and part of it needs trim. I decided I wanted gold trim, but all the ones I like are the wrong shade of gold. Normal fabric dyes say they won't work on things made of metallic fiber, and soaking it in tea didn't work either. So, does anyone know a way I can deepen the color of gold trim?
