Why did skirts for men never become a thing ?

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Men can freeze their family jewels off in Oklahoma's winters when the wind comes sweeping down the plain....
akindheart · 61-69, F

They were for thousands of years... Trousers are a relatively modern invention
Benjr134 · M
They did in Scotland. Where do you think the kilt came from?
JaCrispie · 26-30, F
They used to be a thing.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
I'd like to know too! Although I've worn kilts fairly often with positive comments (from females) only one guy has ever said anything positive. I guess it's a macho thing.
malizz · 70-79, M
Skirts for women are becoming less of a thing nowadays too. Possibly similar reasoning.

Some cultures still support men in kilts, kaftans etc...
It was pretty common before trousers came along, and Scotland held on. I see Scots around here and other places I've lived that wear kilts on a regular basis.

cause the jacobites lost the battle of culloden
Madgirl · 26-30, F
@SW-User interessting.. never heard of this battle before, good read on the wiki
But they have been - or were. And not just kilts. He can wear whatever he wants- same as she- a pleated midi will hide whatever he has under there. And yes, that is with the wind factor.

It has to be both ways and both have to be accepted. If she can wear what she wants, when she wants, the same applies to him. They are just clothes.
ReallyTallDwarf · 36-40, M
Because when the wind blows them up no-one wants to see what's under there
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
Men used to wear skirt and dress like garments. They even wore heels.
lipstickguy · 61-69, M
I love wearing skirts and high heels
@lipstickguy Yeah, but I bet you have a hairy pimply ass!
Not soft and sweet with peach fuzz!
I don't get it.
lipstickguy · 61-69, M

unitX · 36-40, M

malizz · 70-79, M
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
They got too short to hided men's packages...
Kilts worked, but the long skirts are out-of-fashion and too heavy.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Well they WERE back in the 1300's !
But in more modern times ? well, i guess there are some things even David Beckham can't sell !
kaf9292 · 80-89, M
Cowardly, homophobic, sexually insecure men who are too lazy to shave. I have been wearing them extensively for almost two decades.
DressyGirl · 22-25, F
Perhaps the biblical prohibition in Deuteronomy 22:5.
hlpflwthat · M
We just ain't got the knees for it.
malizz · 70-79, M
@hlpflwthat Here's my knees for what they're worth.
