I'm A Lover Not A Fighter But I'll Fight For What I Love

I am generally very friendly and kind. However...I have no problem speaking up on others' behalf. The only physical fighting I do is Jido Kwon Tae Kwon Do (and some Karate) as a club sport through my school.

Hami- I decided to join club after Self-Defense class. (I was one of those afraid to hurt people, and being a Special Ed major, I'm trained in non-violent defensive techniques, and crisis de-escalation aka keeping people calm.) We adapt it, as I have Cerebral Palsy and use forearm crutches. Most of the time, I love that our instructor is certified to teach Adaptive. Other days, not so much!

Yes, although the semester I did Self- Defense, I also was completing my NVCI training. Thankfully, I'd given my instructors a heads-up, that for some of the offensive moves, I would instinctively be using NVCI moves-strictly defensive, NO offensive- They were patient with me, although I did hear, "This is the violent class. It's OK to hurt people. Try again-make sure you attack back." many times! :P

I think it's great you decided to join, and it is nice knowing you have so sort of defensive techniques. I didn't decide to join karate by myself it was just one of the common cases of my kids going to do this. I didn't mind too much, and my best friend and her sister did it too, so I was fine with it, and later got to enjoy it. :)

I think it is nice you speak up for others. :) I did karate most of my childhood through my teens.
