@Carver I was raised on a farm in Midwest US, so until I went to school, I only heard my dad, my mom, my brothers, and our ranch hands speak. My Dad was born and lived until a teenager in Iceland. My mom was born and lived until a teenager in northern Ireland, so my accent is a mix of Icelandic, Northern Irish (which is way different than the Southern Irish most people think of when the think of Irish,) and rural country Midwestern. I sound weird. Nobody but my older brother talks like me. Even my younger brother somehow escaped it. Ugh.
@Carver It sounds more Icelandic than anything. I’m definitely my Dad’s little girl. Led to my “lesbian Ice Queen,“ nickname in high school. The popular boys couldn’t get in my pants because I don’t like most boys and didn’t date in High School. No one said it to my face because my Brothers would have lit somebody straight up but I did hear it around.
@Carver The girl I hit on a bit drunk as a Sophomore probably didn’t help. She was not bi or gay like assumed and told everybody. Rarely did I drink more than one after that, the rest of my life. lol
@Carver *giggles* Part of the Ice queen thing I think had to do with the fact that they thought that I thought I was better than them. My Mom had gotten me an Agent an into commercial modeling about that time. I didn’t feel better than anybody, though. I was Bi and mostly into the girl side in a traditional rural Midwestern community. I was very shy, really scared (of my sexuality,) and had terribly low self esteem.
@Carver They all lived in town mostly but I lived in the country on a farm. I had lots of work and chores and very little free time after school and homework. My Dad is strict and traditional and didn’t allow me to date. And I just wanted a girlfriend. lol
@Carver Even them being mean probably ended up working out for the best. By my senior year... I sort of had my own thing going on and lots of confidence from having to fight through all that dumb crap being picked on, plus my modeling (was just catalogs but still a big ego boost,) and also my playing in my band (that started late my Junior year... we would just jam at my friends because we didn’t have paid gigs or anything to play at yet.)
