I Must Taste Good To Bugs
There is a lot of hype about mosquitoes, just like everything else, companies want you to buy their product so they make it all sound disastrous, if you get one mosquito bite you are going to DIE instantly, and everyone buys it up.
I never use bug spray, and even encourage bugs to bite me. In Summer I get tens of thousands of bites and haven't been sick once. Honestly I have been doing this more than 10 years. So don't be too quick to slap on that cancer causing DDT stuff, try living a little longer and healthier, chances are good a few bug bites will NOT kill you.
If you live in Africa or the tropics, then do everything you can to not let them bite you as you may catch Malaria or worse.
