Changed the seals on the forks

Took all day with a friend because neither one of us had done it before but it’s complete.I can feel the difference in the ride, although I didn’t get a chance to take a lot of corners yet so I will see the real difference when the weather clears up.

Let the bike stand for an hour and Check the oil level before you take it out again and make sure they are both exactly the same.

@goldenorchid I measured them and put 500 ml on each side, that’s what the manual said.

@Contemplative looking at your photos, I noticed two things, a hand gun and dipsticks on the top plugs, trust me, it's imperative that they are exactly the same.
If you're confident leave it a week or so to check them.

@goldenorchid yeah I get what your saying with the dipstick, before we started I noticed that the top plugs were set differently which makes sense now because I always felt unsafe going into left turns it just gave a little more than the other side. Now they are both set to to the middle. Thanks for the info.

The fun part is when you decide you want to experiment with the weight :p

Update- bike feels amazing in the turns and I feel much more in control. We are now one.

what are we looking at here
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@MartinTheFirst A common bit of motorcycle maintenance, where you replace the fork oil, which serves as dampening fluid. Has to be done every few years, or when the fork seals get damaged.

@QuixoticSoul Even if it's not being operated a lot (maybe a few times a year)??

@MartinTheFirst Fork oil doesn’t do anywhere near as much work as motor oil, so you don’t have to replace it every year. But it does start to go bad eventually even if the bike is just sitting. It’s always a good idea to do this bit just in case when you get a used bike, you never know how long it’s been.
