I Hate My Period

I know Menstrual Leave is an old forgotten topic but I really wish it was practiced in the U.S.

My period leaves me bedridden for three days but now that I have a job, I can't stay in bed nor can I call in sick every month. I vomit all day, I can't eat at all due to constant vomiting, and my abdomen and back are in excruciating pain to the point where I can't stand straight. I have to slowly walk, bent over to get anywhere and just walking slowly makes me want to barf.

Luckily, I usually start my period on the weekends when I don't work but the rare times I had to force myself to stand straight, wipe the sweat off my face, hold in my puke and pretend I'm not hungry, and do my job until the fourth day of my cycle when the pain and nausea finally lightens (if not ends) is way too hard on me. I would take pain killers but they make the nausea worse or don't work at all, so until day four I can't take anything.

So I wouldn't mind at least three days off every month. I don't even care if it's unpaid leave or if my pay is lowered as a result. If I can just have three days off each month to rest without risking my job, it would be a true blessing, a dream come true!

Oh you have the same situation like me.I used to hide at home the first two days until I found the right painkiller for me.I can work now esp day one but try not on day two as I usually bleed very heavy n need to change often.This painkiller works really good for me.I only take two days each time I have my period.You only need one tablet to be pain [image deleted]free for 11hours!!

OMG I am forced call in at least a few times a year with the kind of period cramps that cause vomiting and usually at least once a year I will think I can handle it and end up getting sent home for throwing up violently at work! YES MENSTRUAL LEAVE!
Go see a modern physician. Or a naturopath. There is no need to be so debilitated by a common body function. Go now. And get some relief, girl.

@PoetryNEmotion Thank you.
@goagainsttheflow I had horrendous periods. I got a script and was instantly better. It wasn't a narcotic either. I ended up using Motrin or Ibuprofen. I drank lots of fluids. And I coped. No other choice if one needs to make a living. Good luck, girl. It can be minimized.
