@SW-User I don’t either!

I was good friends with my next door neighbor, once. She was a dragon of a lady, and began to complain as soon as we moved in, saying that trees on our property line were hers, abandoned paving stones on our property line were hers, and on and on.

I understand why this type of person behaves as they do, so I baked a cake, and brought it over to her and introduced myself. She was surprised and delighted. I knew she was just cranky and lonely.

We became good friends, and because she was about my mother's age, I helped her with her gardening, steam cleaned her rugs...did a lot of things for her. She did a lot for me, also. When I was going through my 2nd separation and divorce, she would call me at my mother's house, (an hour away), and let me know whenever the 2nd ex was breaking into the house.

Unfortunately, she had some very old fashioned ideas about marriage, and she told me that she thought I ought to get back together with the cheating 2nd ex, before the divorce had begun.

For me, that was like hitting a stone wall. I couldn't get over the fact that she said that, after she KNEW he had his soon to be second wife over to our house when he knew I was working. If I hadn't become ill at work, I never would have known.
@4meAndyou hmm I know that was tough.
@4meAndyou And thank you for sharing.

I have ditched two friends, by coincidence with a few months of each other back in 2000.

The first one was a woman who had been the first girl I fell in love with, way back in junior high. She had gotten into a pattern of ghosting me, going off and getting married to some random guy and then running back to me when it inevitably collapsed on her head. I discovered she was doing it again, and told her straight up that when this one collapsed on her, she shouldn't bother coming back to me.

A while later, a friend of mine was giving me shit about something — I'm not sure I even remember what. I got tired of it and told him to get out of my house.
@DunningKruger understandably so especially the woman using you ...
@jackson55 oh I’m very much aware of that too. It totally takes their lives... and they’re lucky to live through that. I’ve seen a lady fill up bath basins in green, liquid vomit withdrawing ... it was hard to watch.
jackson55 · M
@Watching Like I said, I was in the music business. I've seen it all when it comes to drugs.
@jackson55 And like I said, I can only imagine... 🤗
MiserableAtBest · 18-21, F
I have a hard time forming bonds with people, I simply stop talking to people out of the blue and disappear.. it’s something I’m working on
@MiserableAtBest That’s really sad!
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Only betrayal makes it cut and dry. Otherwise I'm likely to put up with bad behavior for a long long time.
SW-User
@SwampFlower ^ This girl hates betrayal
@SwampFlower One of the most hurtful hurts...
curiosi · 61-69, F
She kept telling me that my husband was having an affair. That was impossible because he wouldn't have had the time. Later on I found out she was having an affair. Guess she didn't want me knowing so she deflected. I found it cruel as if I had believed her it would have caused great harm to my then husband and my relationship.
@curiosi That had to be tough.
curiosi · 61-69, F
@Watching I knew he wasn't cheating but it was hard to hear and did make me think. Then later when we were going through the divorce I heard his lawyer ask "Are you sure the child is yours?" He responded she may be a "b" but she aint a cheater. If he was cheating he would have suspected me.
@curiosi I understood.
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
This is a funny question... due to the fact that I have a hole dug in my back yard and we were walking back there one night to replace a sensor for the bucket light I've got back there that gave out... and,, yup! He fell in the ditch!
Lmao...
All I heard was an oomph!
😂
That was the only time I ditched a friend
SledgeHammer · 46-50, M
@Watching lmao
TexChik · F
When they stopped acting like a friend.
@TexChik it happens
TexChik · F
@Watching yes it does unfortunately.
Shannon27 · M
Them constantly lying about things.
@Shannon27 that’s hard too
Penny · 46-50, F
my ex-husband got out of the car all mad once when we were fighting. so i ditched him like an hour or so from the house. he ended up walking home. took him a long time lol
@Penny friends? I like it.
Penny · 46-50, F
@Watching we're still friends yeah but no way in hell am I ever getting back together with him lol
@Penny I understand..
I had a friend so strung out it destroyed his life and he refused to get help no matter how bad it got. Got to the point i couldn't be around him anymore
@PrivateHell those are hard to watch!!
Only time I've ever ditched a friend is if they stab me in the back otherwise I try to be forgiving
@ExperienceDLT so betrayal?
@Watching yea I been hurt by people in that way quite a few times actually 😕
SW-User
Couple of so called friends were real jerks to me and thought no apology was necessary, I didn't agree...
@SW-User I know that was tough.
I had a friend on EP who got butt hurt that i texted by fiance more than her.
zefyr · 31-35, M
Never believed in ditching friends. Not the real ones.
@zefyr Some don’t know real friends when they have them.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
When they stab you in the back and lie to your face!!
@Indy74 It happens.. wonder who would ever want friends? Hmm
@Indy74 hugs
@Nanori That’s one of the most hurtful hurts one can suffer.
Nanori · F
@Watching she was my best friend, started our friendship in Highschool, lasted 7 years, till one day I found out what she's been doing to me all those years...
@Nanori I’m sorry 😞
SW-User
They were incredibly toxic
@SW-User hmm hard
hunkalove · 61-69, M
Ran outta road.
@hunkalove wut?
hunkalove · 61-69, M
@Watching Where I'm from, roads have ditches on either side. When you run outta road you end up in a ditch.
@hunkalove I fail to see the relevance of ditching a friend? Are you joking? 🙂
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Terrible odor
@jackjjackson I have to love them with “safe distancing”.lol
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Good point. It can be ok if they have 10 foot pole marks on them. @Watching
@jackjjackson haha o understand... can’t handle BO. 🤮 or nasty teeth either with all colors of plaque on them.. ew
bearinthehalfwayhouse · 26-30, M
Thievery. ┴┤•ᴥ •ʔ
@bearinthehalfwayhouse I’ve had that happen to me from someone close. If any friend I have asked of me something I could give them within reason, all they have to do is ask. I don’t get stealing among friends.

I didn't ditch her 🙄
@Mohamed1Alsadek Well good for you.
Discovering they weren’t really a friend. And I gave several chances to prove me wrong.
@bijouxbroussard I like that!
@bijouxbroussard I mean about the several chances to prove it.

@Watching It is. You can never trust them again
@TheLordOfHell I know it would be hard...
@TheLordOfHell ...like to the other Triumvirs?
SW-User
Can't think of anyone I've ditched. Not my style.
Iwillwait · M
Multiple thefts from me, already lies about me.
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
I always choose my friends very wisely, plus I only have 4, and I have known 2 since I was 21 😊
@Justenjoyit genuine friends are few..

@travelguy01 That was quite sad. I understand your predicament.. He did not treat you well at all. Some people are not friends but users.
