I Have Been Betrayed By Friends

New faces, new places. Cherish them all, one at a time. Appreciate their company, and love true personalities. Man...

As time ticks forward, things change. People change. I've never felt so embarrassed around the time in May, shortly after the school term was done. I planned to have my house party with the crew I love, for my 25th - those who couldn't make it gave advanced notice (which I appreciate). Others, shoot - only four made it + my family. Oh well, we still made the evening fun and enjoyable! In the following weeks, shade is felt everywhere. I've given up on people in general, despite being a social butterfly. That sounds strange, right?

Anyways, I don't need anyone who will give me false hope that they're good friends, let alone companions. The circle has shrunk, and I'm cool with that. I met some new folks recently, and I'm torn between middle-aged and elderly folks to look up to / children and teens who look up to me / married or dating and single. That's where I'm at. The lies are a joke, and I will dismiss anyone who uses it to degrade me or anyone else.

It tends to happen as you get older. I look back now and realise people who I thought were friends I now see were merely acquaintancies. Real friends are pretty rare. Most people I know say they can count their 'real' friends on the fingers of one hand.

Good point! I did the same thing and it seems less is better.
