"FEAR NOT" - Biblically Accurate Angels

If you've read the bible, have you ever wondered why that whenever an angel appears before a human, the first thing they always tell them is to not be afraid? The most common depiction of angels are these beautiful, heavenly entities with large elegant wings, dressed in long white robes, a halo gleaming over their head and never looking too different from human beings. Why would anyone be afraid of something like this?

Well, angels actually don't look like that. Not according to the bible. Humanoid angels do exist in the bible, but they're actually low-ranking angels. The higher-ranking ones - the real angels - look nothing like humans, nor like any creature found on Earth. According to the bible, these are what angels really look like...

After seeing these eldritch abominations, their often-repeated command of "fear not" becomes perfectly understandable now. As terrifying as they are, I personally find these depictions of angels a lot more fascinating. While I'm not religious, I like the idea of these holiest in the angel hierarchy being beyond human comprehension. It's often said that their ways are beyond our own. If you ask me, it only makes sense for them to appear as something beyond humanity too. It makes one wonder what God would actually look like. If these monstrosities are anything to go by... On second thought, maybe it's better we don't speculate.

Hope you found this interesting and not too nightmarish! If so, here's a biblically accurate angel meme to lighten things up:

Thanks for reading and remember, if anyone tries complimenting you by saying something to effect of you looking like an angel, maybe think twice about being flattered by it.
I don't believe anyone has ever seen those type angels, though some of the description is accurate, but when Angel's appear unto man, they are in the form of a human. These ones you describe, are the seven angels who stand before the heavenly throne. They are derived from Ezekiel 1:15, a vision of angels as wheels with many eyes, hovering around the fixed point of God. They have four faces (lion, ox, eagle, and man) and four wings, and horses’ hooves, and they sparkle like brass.

Most angels in the Bible have the appearance and form of a man. Many of them have wings, but not all. Some are larger than life. Very tall. Some angels arebright, shining, and fiery, while others look like ordinary humans. Angel's are spirit. They have no genitalia.

Angels are personal spiritual beings who have intelligence, emotions, and will. This is true of both the good and evil angels (demons). Angels possess intelligence (Matthew 8:29;2 Corinthians 11:3;1 Peter 1:12), show emotion (Luke 2:13;James 2:19;Revelation 12:17), and exercise will (Luke 8:28-31;2 Timothy 2:26;Jude 6). Angels are spirit beings (Hebrews 1:14) without true physical bodies. Although they do not have physical bodies, they are still personalities.

Angels are an entirely different order of being than humans. Human beings do not become angels, after they die. Angels will never become, and never were, human beings. God created the angels, just as He created humanity. The Bible nowhere states that angels are created in the image and likeness of God, as humans are (Genesis 1:26). Angels arespiritual beingsthat can, to a certain degree, take on physical form. Humans are primarily physical beings, but with a spiritual aspect.

@LadyGrace Mine (I have two that assisted my recovery from a near death experience) were luminous beings of light, in humanoid form but without distinct features. They were there when I needed them, then disappeared until I see them again upon death.
@windinhishair Oh yes!! I believe you!! What a wonderful story. Thank you so much for sharing that with me. Oh that would be so wonderful to see one. I never have.

Pretty sure Thrones were first described centuries after the Bible was written.

I've never wondered about that, because I figure just about any being just appearing before a human or other animal would be scary at first.

Cool and interesting post, though!

cool. it must have been a higher ranking angel i saw on mescaline once. looked just like a couple of those pictures.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
My angels did not look anything like that at all. But they were just as effective.

It looks like a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster
Which means it’s awesome
Back to being blocked ... uggggh
I posted the other night on a similar thread. I encountered 3 in human form. I
Believe they are sent to test us in some fashion.

I don’t know. “You look like jewelry with eyeballs all over and wings” is more flattering to me. 🤔
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Hey....is that really you? If so, I’ve been worried about you.

Omg are you back?🤗

Why do angels have wings? What value are wings outside earth's atmosphere?
Or clothes? Are they covering their genitalia? Why would angels have genitalia?

I want answers.
KaysHealingPath · 36-40, F
They are terrifying. Lol 😂 but comforting as well 🤣

A lot of people prefer the original way because they want to edgy I like the classic way just because. I've seen nightmare fuel in mangas that make them look like babies.
