I Im An Animal Lover And Hate Cruelty To Animals

My cat brought this in. Does anyone know what it is? I live in Indiana

Turns out that its a mink. Just a baby. They r supposedly throughout the US. I called the vet next morning, they told me of a wildlife rescue in my area. I called them and they told me to give it a bath before I bring it in. Of course it bit me. Poor thing was probably frightened. So I took it up to them. While she was taking it from me it bit her through the fingernail and wouldn't let go.(I would have thought she knew how to handle a wild animal...guess no). Anyway I left. I t occurred to me later that I might have rabies so I called them back to ask. She told me that the mink died. (she probably killed it to get it to stop biting. Poor thing😢 So she told me she would have to send the head to get it tested.😢 2 days later she called back and said it didn't have rabies. I should have just set it free near my pond. It might have had a chance that way. God bless that poor little mink.🙏

@melissa001 I'm really sorry this happened. Does not sound like they are a very good animal rescue place. Does not sound like they really know about taking care of animals.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it might be a mink or a weasel

@melissa001: I have no clue google says there, so I think so.

Is it alive?
melissa001 · 51-55, F
@basiclife98: Its only about 6" long

I think I would ask the vet about it and see if they suggest you put it back out or what? I'm not familiar with that type of animal where I live, so I'm not certain if it's supposed to be kept as an animal or not

That's true. Thnx. 😁 @basiclife98:

Yeah, could be a mink or weasel.

I saw a mink in Mississauga (besides Toronto) last year. Had to look it up to make sure it could be one

I have no idea. Judging by those back legs it looks like the little guy's a hopper
