I Am Scottish

This is really a question but I need as many Scots as possible on here to see this. I have an essay for college and the essay question is "Is devolution good for Scotland's future?" We are obviously to convey our own opinion in this but I thought I should try to see some differing opinions to mine as I want away from Westminster. So if you feel that devolution is good/not enough/we have enough/all "power" should be at Westminster please tell me why. You can also answer this of course if you're from elsewhere and know what you're talking about (just for you Burnley123).

For me the question is less about power than it is economics. Independence makes sense from a national and democratic perspective but I have doubts as to whether an independent Scotland would better off. I agree with Krugman that you can't have a shared currency with different Governments and I do think North Sea oil is not what it was. Is that what you wanted Scottish Guy?

Scotland should tell England to go away!

I am a 61 year old Scot living in South of England. I have many friends in Scotland who want indepenence. However, there is so much to consider. My heart tells me that independence is the best thing but I do not feel that Nicola Sturgeon is the right person to carry this forward. Even though I am older now and disabled I am passionate about Scotland but not at all passionate about the position in which Scotland may find itself. Tread carefully and only break apart at the best time and not to become a slave of Europe.

I own three farms big ones near Inverness and the SNP are ruining Scottish farms as they are clueless.
I the last year the SNP have run up a deficit of £15 billion so they are ruining Scotland yet Scots vote for them.
They are also paying out a huge Benefits Bill and now paying out £17.5 billion to Scots on benefits.
So a devolved Scotland is very bad for hard working Scots but great for lay abouts that live off hand outs.

The figure you quote is mostly pensions and includes lots of other things under 'welfare'. It's not 17.5 billion of unemployment benefit.

So far as I can see, the only people opposed to devolution are rich landowners who want to grasp all they can; Orange-lodge Rangers fans who love to flap the Union flag and people who are not Scottish. There are bound to be others!

I was saying two different things at once there. I'll go with this. Somebody knows their stuff*.

My fiance is into his football and does not fail to tell me all.

I understood!

Well, we've had devolution since 1999 and as far as I can see the results are very positive

I lived there for two years
