I Disapprove Of How Society Rejects Some People

I feel like american society doesn't value intelligence or intelligent people.
I also feel that they ( the majority of people ) fail to recognize or even accept intellect.

Not everyone with smarts has to come from an ivy league school or have a doctorate in advanced science. Smart folks can come from any walk of life, any situation; from the poorest slums to the farthest stretches of the earth.

I wish there were more opportunities for those people to step forward; to be given a meaningful role in society, to be part of projects that will build a better way of living for everyone.

Instead I feel like society is obsessed with competition of the ego, and other such mindless popularity pursuits, and materialism.
