I Have Epileptic Seizures

I've been on Dialantin the past 21 years. I stayed seizure-free. But it affects my thought pattern. It takes me a long time to figure shit out. I feel like the world is moving around me and I'm moving in slow motion. I see a polytrauma doctor at the VA. And he suggested to talk to my neurologist about getting a different seizure medicine that doesn't have the same side effects as Dilantin. He suggested Keppra. Does anybody know anything about Keppra?

Had a seizure 4 months ago. Dialantin metabolizes too fast to be effective now. But it had a good run for 24+ years. Switched to Trileptal. So far so good. But it gives me headaches.
Sorry to hear that. My college roomate was epileptic, and he took Tegretol to control it, but he didn't like it and as I recall he wanted to switch to Dilantin.

My wife takes Keppra (Levitracetam) for muscle spasms resulting from damage caused by a spinal tumor, and she has to be careful with it as even half a pill can knock her out. So she only takes it at night when it's absolutely necessary. Maybe if you took it regularly you would build up a tolerance to the drowsiness.

These are all really old medications; don't they have newer ones?
