Cool. Are we expecting an armored attack from the Mexican side? Do these guys know what the Maginot line is?

@Northwest:

My guess is that you are essentially correct. It was will jumbled up enough that an actual wall will be built someplace ("essential" of course but not costing a lot) and by the time it's all said and done the result will be that the promise was both literal (hence the symbolic actual Wall referred to above) and mainly figurative because the end result will be "vastly superior" or some similar description.

@Jackjjacksonjr: You have multiple classes of illegals:

1. economic immigrants, with no political agenda. These are the people who mow our lawns, wash our dishes, clean our streets, spread manure in fields, etc.

2. Non-violent drug smugglers.

3. Violent drug smugglers

4. Terrorists

While some sections of the border, have no wall, some already do, and the Rio Grande is a river, so you can't put a wall in the middle of a river.

All categories of illegals, are going to scale the wall. You can make it harder to climb, but they will come up with ways to defeat it, and the bulk of cost to defeat the wall, will fall on the most vulnerable, category 1.

So, it's not really about preventing them from climbing the wall, or tunneling under it, it's about detecting it, and dispatching law enforcement. Both are about electronic measures, not brick and mortar.

We would be wasting our money, if we focus on brick and mortar. Our efforts should go toward electronic measures ONLY. This will not only push our technology into new areas, but it will also provide higher paying jobs in the tech industry.

What that will not do, however, is give Trump his "wall". There's no budget for it now, anyway, and next year, everyone will have forgotten about it. Trump will still be able to say that he built the wall. He would be lying, as it would not be a deviation from the roadmap established under the Bush/Obama administrations, but then again, no one is taking Trump to task for his constant lies. "Give him a chance", is what I mostly hear. Why? He's the President of the United States, and supposedly has all the answers, as opposed to "who knew it was going to be so complicated".

The deal is not about screwing someone over a real estate deal, it's the Presidency.
