I Like Politics

I'm not an American but I do get a lot of American politics shoved my way and this morning was no different. Trump addressed the joint house. However as I watched a clip with the sound turned off I noticed a lot of democrats looking quite KKK wearing shiny white clothes. Coincidence?

Lol, they did that as a show of unity. It was women of the democratic party. I don't know if you noticed or not by they all refused to acknowledge or even applaud during the mention of the fallen Navy Seal. Honestly, I thought that was beneath any elected representative and I certainly hope their constituents were watching.

Come election time, I would hope that their actions are not forgotten. To a vet, if this is the reaction that they would give to someone who is a hero, they don't belong in office. It really is sickening.
I watched it also.. in its entirety..
I was appaulled by the number of congressional who stayed in thier seats without a simple clapping of hands.. It was heart breaking.. The division is so vast & we as Americans are so divided.. It's just sad .. regardless what side of the fence your on !!

@MoreThanJust4Fun: I suggest joining the side of the fence where people have a solid grip on reality, and do not question their compatriots' loyalty based on camera angles
Perhaps 🎶🎶...
I know what we had for the past 8 years .. and the division that was created instead of unity .. President Obama was gifted an awesome opportunity to unite our nation .. I didn't vote for him .. but I accepted the outcome.. wasn't quick to judge
And supported our America ..

The President addressed a joint session of Congress. The House is one branch, and the Senate is another.

In the early 1900s, women who asked for equality, were treated as if they were prostitutes, by society in general. So, they decided to wear white, as a sign of "purity", and to push back.

That aside, it really takes someone like you, to use the KKK as a reference, when you know that quite a few of the Congresswomen/Senators, who wore white, are blacks, and descendants of those who suffered horribly, at the hands of the KKK, and those who supported the KKK.

Or perhaps, as a Canadian, you have no clue what went on in the US, until very recently.

@hippyjoe1955: Sure, as long as you see nothing wrong with telling some black US congresswomen, that they're KKK like. I guess it's all white to you, as you could not see the black there.

@Northwest: It really doesn't matter what colour her skin is. If she doesn't know the history of her party then she is uninformed not me racist. MLK was a republican for a reason.
Northwest · M
@hippyjoe1955: Yes, MLK Sr was a Republican, and so were many blacks, given the association with Lincoln. This changed when JFK ran on the Democratic ticket, but the shift from a liberal Republican party to a conservative one, and the Democratic party from a conservative, to a liberal one, had already occurred.

MLK Jr, however, was not a partisan. He, however voted for JFK and MLK Sr. put the word out, that they should vote for JFK and that he had switched party allegiance.

In 1964, and even though he was not politically affiliated with a party, MLK Jr. made no secret whom he was voting for, and it was not the Republican candidate.

But keep showing your ignorance.

No they thought they had Trump on the ropes and he didn't fall into their trap. They wound up looking foolish.
