I Like Politics

I find it amusing that people are asking for the safety of the Hamilton cast after a Trump supporter shouted "We Won!" during a performance yet no one scolded the cast for lecturing Pence during a performance. Both sides are in the wrong but enough with the double standards lol

@LesDeplorable: Note that the game was: let's see if he acts like a child, and responds like a child. You won. I'm getting tired of baby sitting though.

I hadn't see this report - and I would have been p.o.'d to have spent $100 for a ticket and had politics brought into it

that being said I'm reminded of the old addage "if you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen"

if the cast wanted to make a political statement, they shouldn't be surprised when the favor it returned.

Did you miss the tantrum fit, the President Elect, threw over the Pence/Hamilton incident? The conservative media echoed it, deep and wide.

Here's the text of the "lecture"
You know, we have a guest in the audience this evening,” he said to audience laughter. “And Vice President-elect Pence, I see you walking out, but I hope you will hear us just a few more moments. There’s nothing to boo here, ladies and gentlemen. There’s nothing to boo here. We’re all here sharing a story of love. We have a message for you, sir. We hope that you will hear us out.”

“Vice President-elect Pence, we welcome you, and we truly thank you for joining us here at ‘Hamilton: An American Musical.’ We really do,” “We, sir, we are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights, sir. But we truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.

Again, we truly thank you truly for seeing this show, this wonderful American story told by a diverse group of men and women of different colors, creeds and orientations.
BTW, Pence said that he was not offended by what he heard.

The boycot will most likely get their attention.

@Virgo79: Yeah, good luck with the boycott. I tried getting tickets for tonight's show. All gone. All gone for the foreseeable future.

There were about 20 tickets, offered by resellers. Price range: $1,000-$2000 per ticket.

@Northwest: I wouldn't have gone, before the boycot started😏

@Virgo79: I'm sure they're devastated. Will you be boycotting Taylor Swift next?

No one is necessarily in the wrong.
Once we think that it is incorrect to speak our political views especially for "Hamilton" then the freedom of speech we are assured of will languish and atrophy.

Yes there is risk but the Constitution is a dynamic document that defines who we are as a country.

It is always best to demonstrate and protest than to quietly accept. There will be many things in flux and it is time to stand up and speak up rather than sit down:and be quiet.

Its like all the celebrities speaking out at their events, people have paid money to be entertained and not to hear a political rant. I believe we should voice our opinion but there is a time and place.

@Sarah98: These entertainers are package deals. Yes, it does cost money to come to the Performance. The audience doesn't necessarily dictate silence though.
Trump scolded the cast and told them they owed him an apology. Where have you been ?

Im aware of his response, my criticism was directed more to the media that has been repulsively biased this entire time. and its on both sides of the spectrum
