@Quetzalcoatlus I'm going to watch the games... because I like watching the world cup. But I would never pay more money then the fee that I give to my provider to watch it on my screen. It's disgusting enough as it is.

If people weren't so tribal when it comes to their teams and if people didn't like watching the game so much as part of entertainment. Then this entire thing would have been ditched years ago. There have been protests against "modern football" for years, everyone knows that their is loads of corruption with brokers, that there is money laundring in the system and that things like what is happening in Qatar is utterly disagracefull. But people love their teams and they like their entertainment so they keep watching.

@Kwek00 It’ll be interesting to watch. I’d like to see how Qatar is going to handle drunk rowdy fans. Wait! Can they even drink?

@Quetzalcoatlus I know from people out here that there are areas where you can just get alcohol... for turism and all. So I can't imagine that won't apply in the stadiums.

I think the worst that can happen is that the AC in one of those stadium fails, then you get 50 degrees or something to play a game of football in. That would be a logistic nightmare if they have to cancel a game because of a mechanical malfunction.

As long as there is so much money at stake, clubs will just try to generate more profit. Especially those that want to play for high stakes. Look at Liverpool right now, if they are lucky they maybe get a European ticket. But chances are that they won't, so next year they will generate less income. But they have a team full of star players that cost a lot of money... so what to do 🤷‍♂️.

IMO, there should have been financial fair play arangements in the UEFA and FIFA years ago. But because of all the money and power, that never happened. I'm not really sure how Germany functions at the moment, but most of our annalists out here look at Germanny for a good example of what should be done on a European level.

@Kwek00 Yeah. What they will learn from this is that they have to do it more slowly and with better PR.

@Burnley123 We'll see, but I don't really believe there will be a lot of lessons. I'm pretty pessimistic because of the large sums. I also wonder when those spanish teams will finally start facing reality. A couple of years ago, there was a scandal that certain big teams even got EU money from the Spanish governement that was supposed to be for another project, which was...well, weird.

@InOtterWords Basketball, Hockey and Soccer are the only US models that are good. American football and baseball are awful.
