I Love Star Wars

If Lucasfilm called you to make a stand-alone original Star Wars movie, what would it be about?

You can't use known characters but can use any seen previous setting or era.
And it can't be a trilogy.

I would love to see a traditional mystery. One of my favorite parts of the prequels was when Obi-Wan goes off investigating a series of clues that leads him to Kamino. That was great fun and I would have liked to see more.

So, we need some sort of detective character. I don't think he/she/it should be a Jedi — that would give the detective too much power and also I'm not entirely convinced that the Jedi are the "good guys."

The underworld needs to be involved in some way. Gangsters, thugs, interstellar criminals of all sort. Some will be bad guys, some might be good guys.

There has to be a big battle at the end, but not necessarily a planetary scale battle. More like two underground factions going at it, perhaps in space, perhaps planet-side, perhaps both.

I had a thought that it might be cool if the "bad guy" of this story is, in fact, a Jedi — and not a rogue Jedi, but one acting with the authority of the council. He/she/it is doing something that the Jedi consider essential, but is at the same time shady, an "lesser of two evils" situation, although our detective hero is only concerned how the situation negatively affects either themselves or of whomever the hero is acting on behalf.

The presence of Jedi suggests that the story has to be placed before the fall of the Republic and Order 66.

A variant could be that the bad guy is a surviving Jedi (or a small group of surviving Jedi) who is taking advantage of the chaos after the death of the Emperor and the collapse of the Empire. He/she/it is basically kidnapping Force-sensitive younglings from around the galaxy and impressing them into becoming a new Jedi order. These actions may include going so far as committing murder in order to get at the kids and to keep their actions secret for the moment.

I rather like that idea.

This group of Jedi survivors wouldn't have anything to do with whatever efforts Luke is doing to try to revive the Jedi, which as we know ends badly. They may know about what Luke is doing but dismiss him as a "padawan wannabe" rather than a real Jedi.

Anyway, this might be a story I would enjoy seeing.

@DunningKruger I'd love for the small group of Jedi Survivors to directly encounter Some sith apprentice at the very end, right as they're all about to figure out the mystery, and for the last shot to be his lightsaber igniting as he laughs maniacally. The screen would go dark and there would be screaming and lightsaber clashes and bodies hitting the floor

@SW-User While the detective escapes with the rescued younglings.

@Sroonaka616 Omg could you imagine a whole movie about Gary from Robot Chicken Star Wars

I would like to see the story of pod racer trying to put together the first race since the fall of the Empire.

A bounty hunter trying to track his mark across the galaxy.

I'd probably try and tell a story of the family of the child that walked up to Vader and asked "Master Skywalker, there are too many of them, what are we going to do?"

How they dealt with their child's death
How they fared during the galactic civil war
How they survived all of it and became part of the resistance once the new order came to power
CanadianGentleman1976 · 46-50, M
@SW-User Dark but very interesting.

@CanadianGentleman1976 I mean yeah, totally. You'd know the family was force sensitive since the boy was a Padawan.

Maybe they survived the Great Jedi Purge after order 66 and hid away on a world along the outer rim, watching the war ravage the galaxy

Maybe they barely escaped Darth Vader himself as he sought to destroy all the Jedi. Maybe they assimilated into the empire just to survive and deserted when the tide of the war turned.

I'd also like to see the movie about Han Solo after homeboy throws him off the catwalk in The Force Awakens.

Like when Gandalf and the Balrog had their coolio epic duel that one time
Han Solo the White

@SW-User But Lucasfilm is hiring you to make a totally new film, with no classic characters.
