Usually they adapted the customs of the people to make Christianity more palatable to them and hence we got Christmas, Easter...etc.

A look at the history of Christianity would reveal there was a lot of violence and conquering, a lot of shaming, as well as "fire and brimstone" scare tactics used to convince people (and the second two are still widely used to this day).

Better respect them if you want equality lol

It was rather a "We convert you or we enslave you." Type of deal for most of history. They'd go in, learn local language and serve as an example of Christian living and Goodwill with education and healthcare offerings. If the natives were not essentially bribed into conversion through this step, then elimination would soon follow. "These savages refuse redemption"

Through military might and the promise of wealth and trading through the Roman tradition and ways.

It basically went like this.

We can either call for a Crusade against your people and destroy and enslave all of them. Or you can join us and we will make you an incredibly wealthy ruling royal family given position " by the grace of God" and bring numerous trade and wealth options to your country.You being the ruling King, along with your future kin, will be able to decide where that wealth goes.
