Does buying something make you feel emotional? What and how does it make you feel?

I buy high quality office supplies, note books and planners to feel organized, successful and important. I used to have a big library and buying books made me feel important. Buying guns and ammo makes me feel safe.

Getting a really great bargain used to make me feel excited and a little bit out of control. I was in TJmaxx one day, and a manager had marked down EVERYTHING on the clearance rack to $1.00. I grabbed every single thing on the rack and took it to the changing room, and I bought everything that fit me, even if it was the wrong size. THEN I bragged about...and I am still bragging! 馃槀

I used to be way worse when I had a personal assistant it was a license to buy anything I wanted. I would buy it and get the high then a week or so later I would have her return the items and get all the money back. I loved that arrangement. I would still be doing that if I hadn't started doing the assistant....

Anything new to wear makes me feel momentarily attractive. New kitchen gadgets convince me I can cook. New books feel like a hug. New art stuff is thrilling. New things for my children make me feel content. Gifts for others make me feel like giggling.

Uhmm, well not that emotional, buy buying books, notebooks makes me feel motivated and momentarily content.
Buying things for cooking makes me feel happy because I like cooking.

Buying guns makes me feel safe but I am suicidal and having a gun around to do it with is more dangerous while at the same time comforting that I have that control.

I love buying office supplies, it's like a feeling of pseudo-productivity or something

I agree completely!@NorthernRoses

I know it's fucked up but buying things for my son makes me feel like a better father.

I dunno about emotional, but I think there's this male thing about "tooling up" for a project. Nice feeling. Maybe women do the 200 pairs of shoes/75 bags thing in that way.
