What’s your biggest screw up in the kitchen?

My biggest screw up in the kitchen had nothing to do with cooking. When my son was an infant, we would boil his bottles to sanitize them. I had been up with him most of the night one night, and around 5am, I went ahead and started boiling his bottles. I sat down with him in the rocking chair, and he and I both passed out. I didn’t wake up until the smoke detector went off, and the house was full of smoke. My wife came running out of the bedroom, and we immediately took him outside. Knowing what it was, I ran back in and took the smoking pot off the stove. Our neighbors had called the fire department, and by the time I ran back out, there were 2 hook and ladder trucks in front of the house. The firefighters were extremely helpful, and they put two industrial strength fans on either side of the house to blow everything out. That was 22 years ago, and I’ve never lived it down.

I'm not good in the kitchen at all! I'm a disaster. My hubby is the cook in our household. I do the dishes, which I can seem to handle pretty well. ☺

Put eggs to boil and I fell asleep once 'cause I was exhausted. The clouds that formed all over the rooms woke me up after 2 hrs. I'm pretty sure if I didn't wake up fires would have erupted.

I’ve set our oven on fire, microwave on fire, burned and cut myself numerous times, I burn most food or undercook it...soooo I’m great in the kitchen!!

Forgot I had the popcorn popper on the stove with oil and it caught fire. 😵

Every now and then I end up doing something stupid in my kitchen.

Fell asleep while baking cookies once 😂.

I tried cooking pancakes once with a [b]plastic[/b] spatula over 5 years ago. The spatula melted, plastic ended up in the pancakes, and they had to be tossed out.

blow up a kitchen
