I was 4yo my Mum told me that she was taking me to a 4th birthday party.
I was so excited, we bought a story book as a present.
I was looking forward to it for days.
Finally the day came and my Mum told me she'd bought me a new outfit.
It was a frilly, frilly party frock in peach n yellow flowers I'll never forget, it had frilly petticoats and big frilly knickers.
I could have died.
Wiv a vice like grip we walked through the neighbourhood bows in my hair, ankle socks n Mary Janes.
I fought her all the way there, school friends calling out and laughing in the streets.
The only comfort my Mother gave me was to tell me that I "looked very pretty", I hated her for that.
