I Am In a Long Distance Relationship

I don't think I can keep doing this. I want to see him all the time & feels unnatural that we live such seperate lives. I've been hinting at ending it yesterday as it might be for the best before it gets any deeper. I haven't heard from him today as we normally message or text constantly every day.

To make things more complicated someone I'd been briefly seeing before the long distance one has been trying to see me again. I ended that cause he was going through a divorce and moving out of his family home. His divorce is finalized & he's got a clean slate.

Ugh what does a woman do
i could have written that first paragraph. been thinking alot about this today. love him so much and want him really bad that I am thinking being single would hurt less

It's just awful isn't it. I was actually enjoying being single after all the dramas with men & then this one that I've known since we were 11 pops up out of nowhere. I really don't think there's any future in long distance things

Have you ever actually met this person? Do you have any specific plans to get together in real time and space? If not, then my perhaps old fashioned opinion is that you are living in a fantasy world.

For the details, you can read this: "The Life and Death of Jesse James" by Josh Olsen (in the LA Weekly.

Personally, if you are going to take the risk of caring about someone, I'd vote for it being someone physically present.

@greenmountaingal: so hard to have proper communication with him via texting & messages. It's hollow without the facial expressions & body language. Stagnant is the perfect description. I told him I'm going to be busy til the new year & then reassess where I'm at with him.
I'm glad to get advice from a mature gentleman such as yourself cause I'm completely lost with this one

@Florence: Well..
I am actually an old woman but sometimes we old folks are better at the kind of problems that don't involve a detailed knowledge of technology.

@greenmountaingal: apologies I'm still new on this

Personally long distance is tough. Talk with him...you may find the divorced guy is the way to go.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
You will be fine Florence. Your heart may ache but you have the holidays to stay busy with. Do you still think he is THE ONE?
Florence · 46-50, F
@PTCdresser57: He was the very first boy I had a crush on when I was 13 & I've known him since just before I turned 12. I never told him cause I was really shy. He still makes me laugh & I'm still attracted to him. It's really passionate & natural when we're together. I think he might be the one now I'm 40

Ps he grew up tall, muscley & handsome

For me a long distance relationship is painfull as hell ! Your love one is thousand miles away from you and you just have to be satisfy by that...
I'm not buying that at all. I don'tbsay that he wouldn't work on anyone, just for me, it would be disaster !

LDR's are straining. Other r'ships creep in.. Just be open and honest... Typically your other partner - in your LDR - will be compassionate and understanding and trusting in your decisions and NOT threatened by an old beau...
Been-there-Done-that..
If you need an experienced LDR person to lean on... I'm here.

Such wise words. Although we've known each other for nearly 30 years he hasn't really discussed the direction in where we're going. It's too uncertain & I'm not sure if I want to invest time in it
polyandrym66 · 70-79, M
@Florence: INVEST TIME???? You'll be investing your HEART....
My experience suggests that you should take the leap, or else you'll always regret not trying....

long distance relationships are deceptive. they are always better than reality
Florence · 46-50, F
Every time we're together it's incredible. He used to make me blush when he used to talk to me in school nearly 30 years ago.
I gave up on internet dating a while ago cause everyone has this unrealistic expectation

i always

Florence · 46-50, F
@innocentfun4u: Lol they're definitely my legs
