Lord of the Rings

I am currently going through the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I am listening to the audiobooks on Audible and currently half way through The Two Towers. I never thought I would be nerdy enough to get into them but they are quite good!

Are there any LOTR fans out there? And what are similar books that could be recommended?

Way back before the movies existed, high school students who read that trilogy (I was NOT one of them) saw themselves as belonging to a special "secret society." One would see the graffiti "Frodo Lives" all over the place, which I never understood until finally someone explained to me what it referred to.

I finally read the trilogy when I was in my 20's, and I absolutely loved it.

I have had no desire to see the movies, as I prefer to keep Tolkien's images in my head.

It has been a long time, so I do hope to read them again sometime. Next time, it will be after reading some commentaries, as I know he put a lot of symbolism into those books.

That is really interesting! LOTR is not too common in high schools anymore, which is unfortunate because it is excellent literature. The trilogy was essentially a lifetime project to Tolkien.
