I Blah Blah Blah

Y’all this healthcare situation in the US is wild. I haven’t really been a part of the adult world all that much yet so I wasn’t aware of how terrible it could actually be. My brother lost his job as a music teacher (over some bs that I won’t get into) and the healthcare that they’re offering him while he’s unemployed would cost him $500 per month. That’s ridiculous and makes no sense 😤😤.

exactly why medicine shouldn't be a business
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
Insert conservative talking point about how "but at least he has access right?"
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User I agree with that, honestly. I don't think there's any real logic behind privatizing medicine beyond pure profiteering.

@UndeadPrivateer I mean, if any public service is an essential one, it's healthcare.
UndeadPrivateer · 31-35, M
@SW-User Indeed, no one's of much help when debilitated.
SwampFlower · 31-35, F
Yes, it's ridiculous. My insurance statements make me want to throw up.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
I could not recall what I pay, so I looked it up, and it is about $135 every two weeks. But that is only a small fraction of the total cost. My employer (Uncle Sam) pays the bulk. I have not yet found that figure online.

I found figures for last year and I only paid about 1/3 the total cost.

*hugs* I am so very sorry you all are going through these things :(

Thanks. My family is taking a vacation all together next week, and I think we all reaaallly need the break 😵@NativeOregonian
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Effloresce That would be a good thing :)

Get the government out of healthcare!
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@AnarchoMetalchic Get the insurance companies out of the decision making.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
It is crazy
DDonde · 31-35, M
Yep. The plan I have right now is around a similar cost.
Effloresce · 26-30, F
That’s terrible 😨 @DDonde
DDonde · 31-35, M
@Effloresce To be fair, mine's not that expensive because I had qualified for a discount, but there's a good chance I'll have to pay at least some of that discount back once I get a plan with a company again.
I kind of just hate everything about healthcare in the US, and everything about insurance in general.
Effloresce · 26-30, F
@DDonde me too. It all seems unnecessarily complicated and way too expensive for just trying to have the opportunity to stay in good health
