A lady was walking down the road and came upon an injured snake. She took the snake home, nursed it back to health, and the two became best friends. One day, they were in the garden together, and for no reason the snake bit the lady on the neck. As she lay dying among her bean trellises, the lady asked, "Why? We were friends. I saved you. Why have you killed me?" The snake replied, "Lady, you knew I was a snake when you picked me up."
