Granted we are never in total, complete control of any situation or its outcome because some factors that affect it are external. But we're still to a certain degree both directly and indirectly responsible for what comes our way.

@PhoenixPhail I understand that. However, the HR lady said it's normally a very quick process. She's been asking me questions about my history to see if there's anything there that might be holding me back. So, the fact that it is taking so long signals bad to me. Plus, I'm supposed to start Monday! That's my biggest concern. I know it should come back fine, but if it isn't complete by Monday, they will have to go with someone else.
