I Go Barefoot to the Store

Luckily it was always possible for me to go shopping barefoot. I was never asked to wear shoes, which would be futile because I never have shoes with me when walking barefoot. Maybe that's easier here in Germany than in some other countries.

I haven't been asked to put shoes on, or told that I "couldn't be barefoot in the store" in quite a while. Last time I was told I "couldn't be in here", I said, "And yet, here I am, in your store and I'm barefoot". My most common response is, "Thanks for your concern. I go barefoot all the time, and I'll be fine." They seem stumped and I'm walking away by the time they realize what just happened. 👣
