I Received Corporal Punishment At School

As a small boy I was worried about going to junior school. I thought that kids got beaten all the time.My parents promised that it was very rare and only if you were VERY naughty. On my first morning I sat next to a girl, Ruth. The teacher, Miss O, showed us how to set out our sums and we copied some to do in our exercise books. After ten minutes she called us out to check our work. As it happened, Ruth was first. She looked at Ruth's book and her face lost its kind look and became very cross. Ruth had not followed her instructions. Next thing I knew Ruth was touching her toes, navy knickers on display, ( yes honestly) getting three hard whacks with a large, white and very supple, gymn slipper. That taught me two things
a) Don't mess with Miss O
b) Parents tell lies!
And, of course, I was hooked!
